Welcome to the November/December edition of Security Matters. The Norbain LIVE07 events have now come to an end, so we’ll be taking a look at how they went and what visitors and exhibititors thought of them.
We will be continuing our focus on CameraWatch, a new independent advisory body on CCTV compliance. Here, we look at the results of the revised draft CCTV Code of Practice from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Case studies focus on the newly constructed City Mall in Jordan which has seen the installation of hundreds of cameras to help ensure the safety of shoppers and staff, and to aid in the reduction of theft in the individual shops. Installers the Ideal Trading Group worked closely with Norbain’s international sales department to ensure the project went smoothly and have even won further work within the mall thanks to the success of the installation.
At Durham University, CCTV has been used as part of it’s state-of-the-art Techno-Café to help ensure students are experiencing the most effective and rewarding environment for studying. This is an interesting look at how CCTV can be used in a non-security application.
Stockton Borough Council’s security section is working with partners in reducing crime and fear of crime in the area. As part of this initiative, Rapid Deployment Cameras (RDCs) have been developed for quick and easy installation wherever a need for them is recognised.
There’s also the usual look at where Norbain will be exhibiting over the next year and what we’ve been up to in the press.
