New Panasonic WJ-ND400 high-performance Network Disk Recorder

The new Panasonic WJ-ND400 high-performance Network Disk Recorder is now available through Norbain. With its large storage capacity and ability to handle high data throughput, the WJ-ND400 has been designed specifically to meet the demands of megapixel camera recording.

Up to 64 network cameras can be connected to the WJ-ND400 and their images / audio recorded simultaneously. Featuring a 500GB HDD as standard, the NDR includes 9 onboard HDD slots, (with up to 5 optional WJ-HDE400 extension units, each containing 9 HDD slots available for additional capacity), making the WJ-ND400 ideal for large-scale surveillance systems. 'Hot plug' support allows hard drives to be replaced without interrupting the recoding process, to afford continual 24/7 operation.

For high reliability, the WJ-WD400 supports RAID 5/6 redundant recording, enabling image data to be stored across multiple HDDs. This means that if a HDD should fail, recordings can be recovered from the remaining HDDs without any loss of data - an essential feature for mission critical applications.

MPEG-4, JPEG and M-JPEG compatible, the WJ-ND400 features various recording modes. With a range of programmable alarm actions including alarm recording, e-mail notification, alarm message, terminal output, FTP transfer and camera positioning, the recorder ensures that users of the system will not miss any alarm-activated events.

An intelligent VMD function allows movement in specified areas in recorded images to be quickly searched. In addition, the filter search function can search a record by time & date, event type and camera number. Two network interfaces are provided to allow the client network to be separated from the camera network, to ensure users monitoring the system do not impact the camera network performance. It can also be used to act as an additional security measure, allowing cameras to be placed within a separate network with access via the NDR only.

"Panasonic's WJ-ND400 Network Disk Recorder is a market-leading recorder that offers advanced performance and functionality," says Buzz Coates, Norbain's branded CCTV manager: "The unit features an embedded OS and data encryption to ensure high-reliability and security of image data, making it suitable for any CCTV application."
