The new Panasonic Cobra Series product range is now available through Norbain. Designed to IEEE 802.3af Standards, the COBRA Series provides power for PoE (Power over Ethernet) and non-PoE enabled IP devices, such as network cameras, VOIP, telephones, wireless access points and other IP PoE enabled devices; to significantly reduce the cost of installing power in remote locations.
Incorporating midspan technology, COBRA products supply power into cost effective Cat5e (or better) network cable, whilst passing data through from an Ethernet switch. The power required by the device is contained within its PoE signature and is automatically requested when the device is attached to a live network. Using a single COBRA chassis with appropriate modular cards installed can provide power for up to 24 PoE enabled devices.
Unlike many endspan switches that perform both the switching of IP data and supply of power, COBRA products are compatible with both 10/100 Base-T and 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet Switches.
"Panasonic's Cobra products make efficient use of standardised UTP cables and infrastructure to provide the effective delivery of centralised power," says Buzz Coates, Norbain's branded CCTV manager: "Cobra is the perfect addition to our portfolio of leading-edge CCTV equipment, and is supported with Norbain's comprehensive technical back-up."
