Compare DVRs at Norbain LIVE08

Sep 5 2008

Reading, UK

With the huge number of competing Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) on the market, it can be difficult to understand the differences between them and which is the most suitable for your application. LIVE08 gives you the opportunity to see a wide range of DVRs from the premier manufacturers and take the time to ask questions and make your own comparisons.

More information can be found at norbainlive.com, but here is a brief look at some of the DVRs that will be at the events.

  • The Divar MR Digital Recorder from Bosch provides simultaneous, real-time recording on up to 16 channels to CIF and 4CIF resolution. MPEG-4 compression significantly reduces bandwidth and increases storage capability, whilst reducing the overall storage costs. Other features include an overwrite protection feature and the ability to export such recordings to CD or DVD as well as USB devices as required. 8 and 16-channel versions are available with a variety of control and input options including mouse, CCTV keyboard, front panel and IR remote control. The unit is compatible with all other Bosch CCTV technology as well as third-party domes and PTZ cameras.
  • The latest feature-rich SD Range from Dedicated Micros is setting new standards for DVRs in small to medium-sized applications. Available in 4, 8, 12, 16 and 32 channel models, the SD Range offers ‘Normal, Medium and Low’ default recording settings for consistent recording performance per camera - regardless of the number of cameras – and easy to use selectable storage configurations. Another advance with the SD Range is that selected models are Analytics Capable. Analytics packages are available through a simple software and hardware licence upgrade.
  • Samsung Techwin will be demonstrating the first of their new Super Vision series D1 resolution DVRs which are able to capitalise on the superb quality images captured by Samsung Techwin cameras. The sixteen channel SVR-1645, which has a built-in DVD writer, uses MPEG-4 compression to record D1 resolution images at 100 ips and CIF resolution images at 400 ips. Two internal hard drives provide an onboard storage capacity of 1.5TB. New algorithms, unique to Samsung Techwin, equip the SVR-1645 with multi-streaming real-time monitoring over a network.
  • Space is often a problem in small retail outlets, transport and domestic situations; Videoswitch has designed the new VI-M1 DVR with this in mind. The VI-M1 has a small footprint and is equipped with all the advanced functions that customers have come to expect  from Videoswitch, including a removable hard drive requiring no tools and an easy to use USB port and DVD evidence export facility. British designed and built, the VI-M1 has the same easy menu layout as existing Videoswitch DVRs for easy transition for existing customers whilst offering fast frame rate for monitoring, tills, staff, customers and intruders.

Further details on the shows, including a review of the products, technologies and seminars, will be released over the coming weeks. For immediate, up-to-date information and to register for free at an event near you, please visit www.norbainlive.com.
