Increasing demand for Vista’s till monitoring solution, Vista TEAM, reflects industry statistics that show a rise in staff theft but also a rise in the identification of staff theft, according to Vista’s Divisional Director Mark Pritchard.

Quoting the 11th Annual Retail Crime Survey 2003, Mark Pritchard explained that retailers were becoming increasingly aware of the potential role of interrogative CCTV-based loss prevention technology:

"For the 12 months ending 2003 compared with 2002, the British Retail Consortium’s survey shows an increase in known incidents per ‘000 staff from seven to nine, an increase in known incidents per 100 outlets from 37 to 65 and a significant increase in known cost from £541 in 2002 to £852 in 2003. Electrical retailers and clothing & footwear retailers are particularly vulnerable the report suggests. These rises are worrying but there is some satisfaction from knowing that the data is increasingly available due to the increased use of sophisticated loss prevention technology such as Vista TEAM. Retailers not yet using such solutions should urgently evaluate their potential."

Vista TEAM - Transaction EPoS and ATM Monitoring - provides users with a highly efficient and easily searchable method for recording and reviewing integrated transaction and CCTV data, from a multitude of EPOS (Till) machines.

The TEAM monitoring device passes sales transaction data from the EPoS system via an interface to the Triplex™ Columbus Digital Video Recorder (DVR). The DVR then combines and records the transaction data with captured CCTV images. Video and transaction information are stored on the Triplex™ Columbus hard disk unit that provides from 40GB to 1,000GB of storage.
