New Vista SmartDisc range launched
Feb 10 2005
Vista, the UK’s premier brand of CCTV equipment, announced today its completely new SmartDisc range of Video Transmission Systems with Integral Digital Recording. SmartDisc is the ideal tool for combined video alarm verification and remote-site monitoring with all the features of long-term digital recording. Designed primarily with the security industry and BS8418 in mind, the SmartDisc range enables the efficient transmission of live and recorded video images and alarms. SmartDisc offers outstanding value, high quality and a range of features normally associated with much higher cost systems.
A second, totally new product - Vista SmartTel, offers all the transmission features of SmartDisc but without the digital recorder functions.
Both product ranges use a unique MultiLink design that allows for simultaneous IP connections (LAN, WAN, Internet, ADSL) in combination with dial up connections (PSTN/ISDN, GSM-HSCSD). Thus the general manager working from home on a PSTN or ADSL line, the security manager on a local computer network, and the professional monitoring centre on an IP or ISDN connection can all view images at the same time. SmartDisc offers above average image update rates even over low bandwidth connections thanks to the powerful video compression algorithm, but can also take advantage of high bandwidth connections such as DSL enabling up to 25 frames per second.
Divisional Director of Vista, Mark Pritchard explained: “All that is needed to view the images is a PC or laptop with the necessary communication interface – a modem or Internet connection. SmartDisc is a one-box solution for remote monitoring needs with its integral Ethernet port, integral audio and integral PTZ telemetry control.
“One of the key benefits of SmartTel and SmartDisc is the automatic alarm activation function. The software is very easy to use, intuitive and gives the operator full access to the transmitter set-up and individual cameras. Each time an alarm is activated, the SmartTel/SmartDisc transmitter automatically dials the remote PC to transmit live video footage to provide visual evidence of an intrusion. Such remote monitoring with automatic alarm notification can substantially reduce the user’s ‘guard overhead’ and provide the Police with the visual evidence required to substantiate an alarm call.”
