Privacy filters aid compliance with Data Protection Act
Jun 23 2003
Norbain SD Limited, Europe’s largest distributor of CCTV and Access Control equipment, is extending its range of CCTV accessories to include the 3M™ range of Privacy Filters. Using patented micro-louvre technology, a 3M Privacy Filter is designed to ensure that only the operator can view displayed images on an LCD or CRT monitor thereby aiding compliance with the Data Protection Act (DPA). 3M Privacy Filters also comply with the latest Display Screen Equipment (DSE) regulations governing user exposure to reflective glare that have recently been extended to include security control room operatives.
Paul Wong, Technical and Product Development Manager, of Norbain SD commented:
"Under the terms of the Data Protection Act, CCTV users must ensure that images can only be seen by those authorised to do so (Seventh Data Protection Principle). A 3M Privacy Filter helps CCTV users to achieve compliance by ensuring that the images displayed on the screen can only be seen by someone directly in front of the monitor."
The 3M range of Privacy Filters includes five models for flat screen (LCD) monitors and three models for traditional (CRT) monitors, covering screen sizes from 13.3"-18.1" (LCD) and 13"-21" (CRT) respectively. 3M Privacy Filters will first appear in the July 2003 edition of the Norbain Technical Product Guide.
