Norbain to stock explosion protection CCTV products
Jan 2 2003
Norbain SD has announced its intention to stock explosion protection CCTV products. Initially, Norbain will carry the EX70 Explosion Protected surveillance camera from Extreme CCTV™ Surveillance Systems.
Paul Wong, Norbain’s Technical and Product Development Manager explains:
"Explosion protection products are specifically designed to provide CCTV coverage in hazardous environments where traditional CCTV cameras are seen as a possible risk of causing explosion. This could occur from the smallest of electrical sparks, or even heat. These products are becoming more cost effective and, in some sectors, are becoming a standard requirement for environments that previously have installed standard CCTV solutions. Application environments for these products are also increasingly diverse. Typical environments include the petro-chemical industry, oil and gas platforms, power and nuclear facilities, fuel storage facilities at airports and similar locations, munitions storage and a variety of other hazardous locations."
The EX70 is a compact pan/tilt adjustable CCD camera in a standard Class I, Division 1 instrumentation housing. It provides a versatile and cost effective surveillance system, in particular for hazardous industrial environments. A range of lenses from wide angle 2.5 mm to longer range 16.0 mm is available to ensure the required view at a resolution of up to 600 lines using a 1/3" Sony chip. The EX70N.8300 model includes infrared for video performance in darkness.
The EX70 is available in five models depending on the required colour and resolution specification. The camera has been certified as complying with the following explosion standards: CSA / UL, Class I, Groups B, C, D, Div 1&2; CSA / UL, Class II, Groups E, F, G, Div 1&2; CSA / UL, Class III; CENELEC, EExd IIC and the following environmental standard: NEMA 4, 7BCD, 9EFG.
