New graphical user interface for Triplex™ Columbus DVR

Jul 28 2004

Vista, the UK’s premier brand of CCTV equipment, has announced the development of a new graphical user interface for the Triplex™ Columbus Digital Video Recorder.  The new product – to be unveiled later this year and available exclusively through Vista – will be designed jointly with BPT utilising the extensive resources of Impro Technologies (Pty) Limited of South Africa. The new product will provide BPT and Impro with its first access control interface with a popular DVR in the UK.

Ease of operation is a trademark of the Vista CCTV brand and this is a primary motivation behind the development of the new graphical user interface, as Mark Pritchard, Divisional Director of Vista, explains:

"The new Vista GUI will be extremely simple to install and use. A virtual matrix, the new GUI will give security operatives point and click access to any Triplex™, camera, PowerDome™, or Impro access control unit on a network based on a graphical representation of the premises rather than detailed knowledge of the system configuration itself. This will reduce the training requirement on staff as the need to have a detailed knowledge of the buildings or system will be greatly reduced. It also simplifies even further the operation of the Triplex™ Columbus making it perhaps the easiest DVR to operate available on the market today. But perhaps most importantly it will make it far easier for staff to track suspicious behaviour around a building or site as the graphical ‘map’ will enable operatives to ‘walk through’ the building camera by camera in a very logical progression as they follow their subject of interest."

The new GUI offers full integration with Impro’s IXP400 access control system and will work on networks with up to 320 cameras (20 Triplex units).

"It is a pleasure to work with such an ambitious and visionary brand as Vista", remarked Janine Solloway, Sales and Marketing Director of BPT.  "The new GUI will aid the end-user in terms of simplicity of operation but will also bring new features to the Vista Triplex™ Columbus DVR. Seamless links with the Impro access control system will enable users to operate their entire access control and security systems from a single GUI.  BPT are proud and excited about the closer alliance developed through this joint venture."

Norbain is the exclusive UK distributor of the new Vista GUI which is represented in the UK by BPT. For more information, visit www.vista-cctv.com.
